"MANTRA"

വർഷങ്ങൾക്കു മുൻപാണ് "MANTRA" യുടെ "മഞ്ഞലമേൽ" എന്ന് തുടങ്ങുന്ന ഗാനം ആദ്യമായി കേൾക്കുന്നത്. അതിനു മുൻപോ , അതിനു ശേഷമോ "MANTRA"യുടെ ഒരു ഗാനം പോലും ഞാൻ കേട്ടിട്ടില്ല. എങ്കിലും,വർഷങ്ങൾക്കിപ്പുറവും മലയാള സംഗീത ആൽബങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ ആകർഷകമായ ഒരു ഗാനമായി ആ ഗാനം അതിജീവിക്കുന്നു. 

എന്ത് കൊണ്ട് ഈ ഗാനം ആകർഷകമായി തുടരുന്നു എന്ന് പറയുക പ്രയാസകരമാണ്. നാടൻപാട്ടിന്‍റെ വരമ്പിലൂടെയുള്ള അതിന്‍റെ  സഞ്ചാരമാണോ? ആദ്യന്തം സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്ന ആഴത്തിലുള്ള വിഷാദമാണോ ? ചിത്രീകരണത്തിലും, ഗാനത്തിലും വൃത്തിയായി പകർത്തിയപാശ്ചാത്യ അടയാളങ്ങളോ? ഒരു ബഹളവുമില്ലാത്ത പാട്ടിന്‍റെ ഒപ്പം സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന ചിത്രീകരണമോ? ഇതെല്ലാം ഒന്നിച്ചു ചേരുന്ന നിമിഷങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാവാം ഈ ഗാനം പ്രിയപെട്ടതാവുന്നത്.
പാട്ടിന്‍റെ എല്ലാ മൂലയിലും,ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് വാക്കുകൾ തിരുകിയ അരോചക ഗാനങ്ങളുടെ ഈ വേലിയേറ്റ കാലത്ത്, മന്ത്രയുടെ ഗാനം സുന്ദരമായ ഒരു അപവാദം ആയി തീരുന്നു.

California Dreamin'.............

Andrea Arnold സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത Fish Tank എന്ന സിനിമ കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ കിട്ടിയ ഒരു പാട്ടാണ് California Dreamin'....സിനിമയുടെ പ്രമേയവുമായി കാര്യമായ ബന്ധം ഇല്ലെങ്കിലും പലയിടത്തും ഈ പാട്ട് കടന്നു വരുന്നു. വെറുതെ, ഒരു കൌതുകത്തിനു യൂടുബ് തപ്പിയപ്പോള്‍ ആണ് സംഭവം പുലിയാണെന്ന് മനസ്സിലായത്. 1965ല് The Mamas & the Papas എന്ന ഗ്രൂപ്പ് പുറത്തിറക്കിയ ഈ ഗാനം എക്കാലത്തെയും മികച്ച ഗാനങ്ങളുടെ പട്ടികകളില്‍ ഇടം പിടിച്ച പാട്ടാണ്. ഒരു പാട് രൂപങ്ങളില്‍ ആ ഗാനം പിന്നീട് വന്നു. ഇപ്പോഴും പുതിയ രൂപത്തില്‍ ഈ പാട്ട് സജീവമാണ്. അത്തരം രൂപങ്ങളില്‍ ഒന്നാണ് സിനിമയില്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. കാലിഫോര്‍ണിയയിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങാന്‍ കൊതിക്കുന്ന ഒരാളുടെ കാഴ്ച്ചപാടാണ് വരികളില്‍ നിറയുന്നത്.

പ്രതിരോധത്തിന്‍റെ പാലെസ്തീന്‍ സംഗീതം.................

2009ല്‍  ഇസ്രയേല്‍ പാലെസ്തീന്‍ നഗരമായ ഗാസയില്‍ കനത്ത ആക്രമണം അഴിച്ചു വിടുകയുണ്ടായി. നിരവധി നിരപരാധികള്‍ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ട , ഈ മനുഷ്യ വേട്ടക്കെതിരെ ഉള്ള ഒരു പ്രതികരണമാണ് WE WILL NOT GO DOWN എന്ന ഈ ഗാനം. സിറിയന്‍ ഗായകനായ Michael Heart എഴുതി, സംഗീതം നല്‍കി പാടിയ ഈ ഗാനം, പിന്നീട് സോഷ്യല്‍ മീഡിയകളില്‍ ഒരു തരംഗം തന്നെ  സൃഷ്ട്ടിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. പാലെസ്തീന്‍ ജനതയുടെ ഒപ്പം ലോകമെമ്പാടും ഈ ഗാനത്തിന് ആരാധകര്‍ ഉണ്ടായി. ഒറിജിനല്‍ വീഡിയോയെ കടത്തിവെട്ടുന്ന പുത്തന്‍ എഡിറ്റഡ് രൂപങ്ങള്‍ ഒരു പാടുണ്ടായി.  എന്ത് കൊണ്ടാണ് ഈ ഗാനം ശ്രേദ്ധെയമായി എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചാല്‍ ഉത്തരം പറയുക എളുപ്പമല്ല. ഒരു പക്ഷെ, ഈ ഗാനം പകര്‍ന്നു നല്‍കുന്ന പോരാട്ട വീര്യം കൊണ്ടാവാം.... എന്ത് യാതനകള്‍ നേരിട്ടാലും , പരാജിതരായി മടങ്ങാന്‍ തയാറല്ലാത്ത ഒരു ജനതയുടെ ആത്മാവിനെ എന്തായാലും ഈ ഗാനം സ്പര്‍ശിച്ചു എന്നത് തീര്‍ച്ച................... അവര്‍ക്കൊപ്പം എന്‍റെ ഹൃദയവും ഞാന്‍ ചേര്‍ത്ത് വെയ്ക്കുന്നു.

CELTIC MUSIC- പ്രശാന്ത സംഗീതത്തിന്‍റെ സ്വപ്ന തീരത്ത്....................

20010 ല് പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ "ഉറുമി" എന്ന ചിത്രത്തില്‍ എന്നെ വളരെ അധികം സ്വാധീനിച്ച ഒരു പാട്ടായിരുന്നു "ആരോ നീ ആരോ...".അതിലെ വരികളെക്കാള്‍, ഗായകരെക്കാള്‍ എന്നെ ആകര്‍ഷിച്ചത് അതിന്‍റെ സംഗീതമായിരുന്നു. അത് വരെ മലയാളത്തില്‍ കേള്‍ക്കാത്ത ഒരു സംഗീതം. പിന്നീടാണ് അത് CELTIC സംഗീതം ആണെന്ന് തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞത്. ലോകപ്രശസ്ത CELTIC ഗായിക Loreena McKennitt ന്‍റെ Caravanserai എന്ന ഗാനത്തിന്‍റെ  അടിച്ചു മാറ്റലോ, പുനരാവിഷകരണമോ ഒക്കെ ആയിരുന്നു "ആരോ നീ ആരോ".... ആ കഥ ഇപ്പോള്‍ കോടതിയില്‍ എത്തി നില്‍ക്കുന്നു. പക്ഷെ, എനിക്ക് ആ പാട്ട് ഒരു സ്വര്‍ണ താക്കോലായി മാറുകയായിരുന്നു. ഒറിജിനല്‍ Caravanserai തപ്പി യു ടുബില്‍ ചെന്നപ്പോള്‍ അക്ഷരാര്‍ത്ഥത്തില്‍ ഞെട്ടിപ്പോയി. Caravanserai യുടെ ഒപ്പമോ, അതിനു മുകളിലോ നില്‍ക്കുന്ന എത്രെയോ പാട്ടുകള്‍.. . ഒപ്പം CELTIC MUSIC എന്ന ചേതോഹരമായ, ഇതുവരെ കാണാത്ത ഒരു സംഗീത ലോകവും. താമസിച്ചു പോയതില്‍ ഒരു പാട് നിരാശ തോന്നി. സംഗീതത്തിനു, വരികളും, വാക്കുകളും അപ്രസക്തമാണെന്ന്,(അനാവശ്യമാണെന്ന്) ആദ്യമായി ബോധ്യപ്പെട്ടു. ലോകത്തിന്‍റെ  മറു കോണില്‍ ഇത്രെയും പ്രശാന്തമായ സംഗീതമുണ്ടെന്ന തിരിച്ചറിവ് ഇപ്പോഴും അനുഭവിച്ചു തീര്‍ന്നിട്ടില്ല. യാഥാസ്ഥികമായ ഒരു സംഗീത ബോധമല്ല നമ്മള്‍ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നതെങ്കില്‍ ഒഴിവാക്കാനാകാത്ത ലോകമാകുന്നു CELTIC MUSIC.
